About me
Karriem Muhammad-My name is Karriem Muhammad, though friends call me Riem. I'm a proud CPS and HBCU graduate with deep roots in Chicago—I grew up in Auburn Gresham and attended Chicago Military Academy-Bronzeville in the historic Bronzeville area. Here's something that might surprise you: I graduated high school at 15 and started college at Grambling State University just after turning 16. My academic journey began with a Biology Pre-Med major, and I even walked on to play football for a year while maintaining my studies. Sports have always been a passion—I played football throughout high school and continue coaching today. I've been working in education since 2012, spending a decade (2012-2022) in Attendance and Enrollment at an inner-city Chicago high school. Since then, I've held district-level positions at both District 65 in Evanston and Chicago Public Schools. Currently, I serve as a Data Strategist for Attendance and Enrollment in the Office of Student Support and Engagement at CPS. Serving my community and supporting Chicago's youth is my calling. Beyond my day job, I coach high school sports and was proud to be part of the Phillips High School coaching staff when we made history as the only CPS school to win a State Championship. I'm excited to be part of this program and look forward to sharing my experiences while learning alongside all of you.
