About me
Niambi Thomas is a veteran of urban educational systems, and has been featured as a school violence prevention expert on radio programs such as WVON’s Education Hour and U.S. National Public Radio (NPR).
Born in Chicago to two Chicago Public School teachers turned school principals, she developed a passion early for education and service.
To this end, Niambi is currently the Principal of DePriest Elementary School. Prior to becoming Principal of DePriest, Niambi acted as Citywide Principal of Tubman Elementary School and Farragut High School.
Niambi is published in the areas of youth violence and the use of technology in classroom instruction. She is a public speaker and trainer. Niambi has also been skilled in urban area revitalization, creating and gaining funding for jobs in educational settings in areas such as Calumet Park and Chicago’s Pullman neighborhood. She is featured in Walden University Principal preparation curriculum in the area of school funding and Diversity, Equity and Inclusion.
As a former Director of School Culture & Parent Engagement/Assistant Principal, Culture of Calm Coordinator, and teacher, Niambi’s passion for students and their families to live lives of abundance continued to grow. It is this passion that drives her to continue to look for new and innovative ways to be of service.
